7th International Chemical Engineering Conference - CHEMPOR 98 (Vol. I)
CHEMPOR’98 is the 7th edition of na International Chemical Engineering Conference held in Portugal. Previous meetings took place on Lisboa (1975), Braga (1978), Póvoa de Varzim (1981), Coimbra (1984), Lisboa (1989) and Oporto (1993) and we were organized by chemical engineering departments of local universities. The periodicity was initially to be three-yearly, nut organization difficulties and lack of an institutional organizer have led to a delay in the last few editions. To try and avoid these problems, it was decided that henceforth CHEMPOR should have a permanent co-organiser, the Colégio de Engenharia Química da Ordem dos Engenheiros, thus ensuring continuity and periodicity.
The present edition, CHEMPOR’98 is therefore jointly organizes by the Colégio de Engenharia Química da Ordem dos Engenheiros and the Chemical Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico, with the collaboration of Sociedade Portuguesa de Química. The general topics are: Chemical Engineering Science; Industrial Chemical Processes; Biochemical Engineering, Equipment and Design; and Development Strategy for the Chemical Industry in Portugal.
